Orthodontic Treatment in Avoca Beach
We want to share with you the Orthodontic journey of our 15-year-old patient from Avoca Beach.
She is a lovely student but was self-conscious of her crooked smile.
She had severe upper crowding, mild lower crowding and a deep overbite. One of her upper front teeth was too high from its ideal position.
Crowding occurs due to a lack of room in the jaw to accommodate erupting teeth. The jaw size can be too small, or the teeth can be too large when you have overcrowded teeth.
Everyone’s jaw has arches meant for each tooth in the mouth. The arches have particular dimensions, which teeth should fit into. Teeth with large sizes can fail to fit within these arches and cause crowding. Signs of crowded teeth include overlapping teeth and twisting of teeth within their arches.
After a thorough Orthodontic examination and discussion about her treatment options, we gave her upper and lower braces to correct her teeth alignment. We also did tooth extractions to gain space in her upper front teeth.

After 2.5 years of wearing braces, we improved her bite and straightened her teeth. We successfully moved her upper front tooth to its ideal position.
